A collection of excerpts from six radical feminist journals of the 1850s. The issues dealt with have a haunting, deja-vu quality to them, as though we've put clean clothes on the baby without changing the diaper. Women speaking to women discuss the male domination of history writing, wifebeating, women's poverty, and, more optimistically, unhealthiness of women's fashions, which set off a century-long campaign of clothing reform that, though still ridiculed, has worked.
