About the Author

After Ray Ramirez graduated from the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine in 1986, he worked in an emergency clinic in Schaumburg, IL (outside Chicago) and then at an AAHA practice in Milwaukee, WI. In 1989, he started doing relief work in Wisconsin, and quickly grew this short-term project into a full-time relief practice. In 1994, he moved that full-time relief practice to central Illinois (based in Maroa) working in over 100 practices; until he bought Lakeview Veterinary clinic in East Peoria, IL in December 2007 from a deceased veterinarian's estate. He built this 'start up' practice into a two doctor practice, and enjoys helping colleagues avoid the problems he had as a new practice owner, and create the life of their dreams, if the only knew how (by avoiding the mistakes he made!).
