THE ROTHERHAM TRUNK MURDER:
Uncovering An 80 Year Old Miscarriage Of Justice

When I was about 9 years old, my grandma told me about a murder committed by somebody that she knew. The story stayed tucked away in the back of my mind over the years, until 2014, when I found an account of the murder in an anthology of Rotherham crimes. I was really fascinated to read full details about the crime after all these years, but my fascination turned to horror when I reached the part where someone was tried and hanged for the crime, because it was not the person that my grandma had named as the murderer. I spent several months researching the crime, and believe that there was a miscarriage of justice - a man hanged for a crime that he did not commit.
The daily newspaper, The Nottingham Post, reviewed the book in March 2016 and dedicated a double centre-fold article to it. An extract from the article reads:
"In her fascinating first book 'The Rotherham Trunk Murder', ex NHS Director Jeannette Hensby argues that Andrew Bagley, born a policeman's son in the South Notts village of Bunny was innocent of the murder of 16 year old Irene Hart. She examines the evidence in forensic detail, asks questions that should have been asked at his trial, exposes a scandalous appeal court cover-up and, in the final chapters points an accusing finger at the person she believes was the real killer"
