It is remarkable, in polite society, for a man to return from the dead, but Lord Griffin arrives alive and well. He returns from the jungles of Brazil to claim his fiancee, only to find that she is betrothed to another. He barely even notices her younger sister, Alice, all grown up and quite fetching, which is a pity because she is an adventurous free spirit who would suit him nicely on his worldly expeditions. But Alice realizes she doesn't have a prayer in the world - especially when Griffin enlists her to help in his match-making schemes. If only he would look right under his own nose he would find that rarest of treasures: true love.
