The Secrets of the Greek Islands

The charms of Greece’s many islands are well known, having long lured tourists to their shores to luxuriate in turquoise waters, bask on golden beaches and savor sizzling specialties at friendly tavernas. But some islands still claim more visitors than others, some resorts fill to capacity while a hop down the coast will take you to pristine, quiet villages.

The Secrets of the Greek Islands takes the reader on a photographic journey to rediscover the incredible diversity of all the large and many of the smaller islands that dot the Mediterranean and Aegean seas, from treasured landmarks to quiet corners. Starting in the west, with the lush Ionians, we then move east to the Argo-saronics, then across to the Cyclades, south to Crete and the Dodecanese, moving back up to the Northeast Aegean islands, and finally back round to the Sporades and Evia.

Packed with stunning and atmospheric images, from church domes in Corfu’s old town to the idyllic Shipwreck Bay in Zakynthos, from yachts moored in the chic harbor of Hydra to the beautiful town of Ia spilling down the caldera cliffs of Santorini, The Secrets of the Greek Islands is a delight for the eyes and the imagination. Diana Farr Louis’s accompanying text will inspire you to travel there yourself to savor the sights, smells, tastes and sounds firsthand. The tricky part will be deciding which island to choose!
