Overview

December 7,1941, The Japanese attacked the United States fleet at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii without provocation. Afterward, young men and women signed up in droves to fight the enemy wherever they were sent. The small seaside community of Smugglers Cove was no different.
Early in 1942, seven of Smugglers Cove's finest signed up together to go to war, knowing they may never return. Not long before that, a young socialite named Sarah Harper vanished days before the young men were to ship off. The sheriff organized a search party and searched the entire town; however, no trace of her was found. Days later, her body was discovered on a beach by the nearby lighthouse.
For weeks, the sheriff tracked down leads and talked to several people, including Christof Wolf, a German immigrant who operated the lighthouse. However, it became apparent that the killer may never be known. People talked about the murder for months until it slowly disappeared into obscurity as more pressing matters arose concerning the war. When the war finally ended, young men returned home by the thousands, including the survivors of the Smugglers Cove Seven, who came home to much fanfare. However, by then the murder of Sarah Harper was all but forgotten except by a few.
Some eighty years later, descendants of Christof Wolf bought the lighthouse and turned it into a bed and breakfast. During the renovations, workers found a set of journals hidden away that may solve the murder of Sarah Harper once and for all, but not everyone is happy about the discover.
As Luke Wolf, Christof's descendant, along with his wife, Lisa, began a search that could once and for all clear his families name and answer the question of who killed Sarah Harper, it became very apparent that some people in the town don't want to dredge up the past ... and for good reason.

About the Author

Steven Jacobs, a native of Wilmington, North Carolina, was captivated by history from a young age. His fascination was nurtured by his father, who introduced him to classic movies featuring legendary actors like Cary Grant, John Wayne, Henry Fonda, and Steve McQueen. This early exposure sparked Steven's passion for history, particularly the turbulent years of the early to mid-1900s, and his love for military history began to bloom.
Later in high school, Steven excelled in United States history, especially in the turbulent years of the early to mid-1900s, and this is where his love for military history flourished. By the time Steven was thirty-five years old, he had read countless books on United States history with a focus on the era of World War II.
At the age of forty-five, Steven penned his debut book, The Disappearance of U-491, a gripping tale about a German U-boat vanishing during World War II. The experience of writing this book was so fulfilling that he decided to continue, culminating in the completion of his fourteenth book. This impressive body of work is a testament to his dedication and love for historical fiction.
Now, at the age of fifty-two, Steven lives in Columbia, South Carolina, with his wife and son. He has worked for the government for fifteen years.
