Overview

While helping their grandfather decorate the house for Christmas, Daniel and Becca become bored and quit working. To prompt the children to help finish the Christmas tree, Grandfather offers to tell them the story of the very first Christmas tree, a sad little evergreen named Edwin.
When Blinky, the star, finds his friend, Edwin, crying in the forest, the little star tries to comfort him by reminding him of the joyous event of this night; the new king and Savior had been born. This only makes Edwin feel worse as he reveals he is sad because he has no gift for the Savior, and all the other trees are making fun of him. Eager to help his friend, Blinky consults with two angels to find a suitable gift for Edwin to present to the baby. But what gift could a sad little pine tree possibly offer a king? The book also contains the lyrics of "Silent Night", "O Little Town of Bethlehem", and "O Christmas Tree" each accompanied by an author created illustration and footnotes regarding creation of the song.
The Story of Edwin, The First Christmas Tree" strives to convey the message that, no matter who we are, we all have a special gift to offer the world. Sometimes we just need a little help to discover what that gift is.

About the Author

As a child, growing up in southern Pennsylvania, I developed a love of books and would read just about anything I could get my hands on. I recall many long, hot summer days spent with the Hardy Boys, the Three Detectives, and of course; Bilbo, Gandalf, Thorin, Frodo, Sam, Pippin, Merry, Strider (and let's not forget, Gollum), and many, many others. From a very early age I wanted to be a writer. Though it has taken me a while, I am finally following my dream. I hope you enjoy the stories I choose to share with you, and further hope they may encourage another dreamer to take a chance on a dream of their own, whatever it may be.
