About the Author

"Penelope Sandiford is the daughter of Hugh Gordon and Beryl Valeria Sandiford (April 1928 - May 2011).Penelope is a physician and an educator. She completed fellowships in Pediatric Critical Care Medicine (Children's Hospital of Michigan, Detroit, Michigan) and in Pediatric Hemostasis and Thrombosis (Nationwide Children's Hospital, Columbus, Ohio). During her Hemostasis and Thrombosis fellowship, Dr. Sandiford had the opportunity to work with physicians who cared for young women with abnormal menstrual bleeding. Recognizing that her daughter was growing up and would, within a few years, have questions about puberty and menstruation, Dr. Sandiford made the decision to write the Transformation of egg-X.Dr. Sandiford's vision was that this book would be a comical, easy read, one that could be used by any parent to start a non-threatening conversation with young girls and young boys about puberty.Dr. Sandiford is also hopeful that the Transformation of Egg-X will be instrumental in increasing awareness about abnormal menstrual bleeding."
