Overview

You met, and fell in love with, PJ Mouse in book #1, 'The Travel Adventures of PJ Mouse - In Canada'. Now, come join PJ Mouse on this, his second adventure, along the coast of Queensland, Australia, as he snorkels at the Great Barrier Reef, chats with a Loggerhead turtle in the midst of a great undertaking, and explores the tropical rainforest - until he has to be rescued by one of the local friendly wildlife. Upon his return home he finds that Fuzzy Beast has made a new friend, and PJ is not sure what to think.

If you have not already met PJ Mouse, he is a cute, slightly featherbrained, stuffed animal, that travels everywhere with Emily and her family. He was lost and alone, wet and bedraggled, until Emily found him and took him home. Now, as he travels the world, he must overcome his fears of the unknown, and in doing so, trust others to help him out when needed. As well, he discovers some amazing places and creatures, and learns that some of these need our help to survive.

This series of travel adventures is designed to be educational and fun for the young reader. As well, kids can get their very own PJ Mouse (beanie style stuffed animal), along with his passport and stickers, so they can track the trips as they learn about the places visited.

About the Author

I am married with 4 children and currently live in Victoria, B.C.. I love travelling and I love kids, specially my own. Our family trips are my inspiration as they are some of the best memories of my life. The time spent together gives us a wonderful family bond and the education my kids have from their trips is invaluable. Having travelled the world fairly extensively, I started to write in order to share with children how amazing our world is and how important it is to look after it and appreciate what we have. I have had so many people over the years tell me that they did not want to go to a certain place because of a fear of something.... ex. "I would never go to Australia because it is full of snakes and spiders". Yes, Australia does have snakes and spiders, but in the 5 years I lived in Australia I saw one snake and never encountered a poisonous spider. Driving in L.A. is kind of crazy, in my opinion, but do people not go to L.A. because it has cars? I want to encourage kids to not live in fear of the unknown. We miss out on so much in life if we live in fear. Our world is incredible.....explore, appreciate, and care for it and each other.

I think I have a new favorite children's book! I read The Travel Adventures of PJ Mouse by myself since I had to write the review, but I look forward to reading these with the kids - all three of them! I am certain all three will love them! The illustrations in The Travel Adventures of PJ Mouse in Queensland are almost better than when he was in Canada!! Absolutely stunning! During this travel, PJ gets to go to Queensland, Australia. I have to admit, Australia is somewhere I have always wanted to visit so it was fun to live the adventure through a "funny little mouse." PJ gets to go snorkeling and wake boarding. He visits the rain forest. He flies in a plane. He gets to have so many adventures and kids get to go with him as they read along! This is one lucky mouse, he gets to go all through Australia (Queensland) he gets to see new people & animals and the Great Barrier Reef. (I am so jealous of this stuffed mouse) He is still adorable, lovable and I would still buy this book for any kiddo I know. This book does a great job showing the world. The loveable mouse, the fantastic illustrations and the education in the book make this an amazing book! by The Cubicle Escapee This second book in The Travels of PJ Mouse now takes place in Australia. This time rather than travelling in a fifth-wheel RV, PJ Mouse gets to go to the airport, have his passport stamped and fly in a plane! How exciting! My kids still remember the first time they took a jumbo jet to fly to Europe. It's truly impressive. Along with the book, you can purchase a PJ Mouse passport with stickers so that your child can follow along the trip and add to the passport the sticker of each place they visit. Once again, PJ experiences new things on his travelling adventures with Emily and her family. The best part was the visit to the Great Barrier Reef where PJ snorkels and meets a Loggerhead turtle. We learn more about these turtles and observe with PJ how they lay their eggs at night on the protected beach. And of course, he is rescued once again by a lorikeet bird when he gets lost. Whereas the first book in the series focused more on places, this book focuses more on animals. My son and I enjoyed it immensely. The illustrations in this book are more colorful and detailed than in the first. This series not only has a classical look to them but they are reminiscent of books such as Winnie the Pooh. It's refreshing to find writers who can write these types of books that seem to be dwindling. The next book in the series takes place in England. Another great adventure with PJ Mouse!
