About the Author

Writing under the pen name Harold J. Forbes, Mr. Forbes is a thirty-something man living in the southern United States with his wife and four children. He is a Certified Public Accountant and former auditor currently working in the accounting function of a publicly-traded Fortune 500 company.

Mr. Forbes and his family are members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, which for decades has counseled its members to be temporally as well as spiritually prepared. While always following this counsel, it wasn't until early 2008 that he became familiar with the term "prepper." His view of preparedness is mostly concerned with practical preparedness or, put another way, self-reliance through the wise use of resources. While there is a place for tactical and hardcore wilderness survivalist topics, it isn't a focus of his writings. His belief is that small-scale personal disasters, like a job loss or illness, are much more likely than the large-scale end of the world catastrophe, and those more personal disasters should be the focus of our preparations.
