Overview

Don't let the glamorous cover photo of Mary Wells fool you -- these aren't the best of her Motown, 20th Century, Jubilee, or Epic tracks, but rather, late-'80s productions by Britisher Ian Levine. While these tracks aren't horrible, they don't exactly reach out and grab you, either. Wells' mature voice sounds pleasing, but remakes of "My Guy," "What's Easy for Two," "You Beat Me to the Punch," and "Once Upon a Time" (a duet with Frankie Gaye) won't have you pining for more. The original compositions, not to mention the price, are quite unappealing, too. ~ Andrew Hamilton
