CLOAK: The Lost Son of the Crested Folk

Cloak... the irony of his own name weighs heavily on his young shoulders. He is nearing his sixteenth year, but unlike his peers he has yet to grow a crest, a crown of spines whose form and degree will determine his role and standing in society. He covers his head and hides away, fretting constantly on what the future holds for him and unaware that others conspire to write his future for him. He is not what he appears. He is a well-guarded secret, a potent force nurtured from birth by dark majic, a weapon of war, a renderer and a conduit to majic from the earth's core.
His true name and birthright are known to only one man; the king. Concealed by the sovereign during his crestless years, Cloak has been hidden from the eyes of the seers and the touch of the tellers, but this is not destined to last. The king's plans to recover the boy go awry and as his cresting day approaches, the mists of time grow momentarily still. Prying eyes now spy him out, folk who lust after his power and fear it in equal measure. It is now that fate and majic intervene.
In the kingdom of the crested folk, threads of coloured majic flow freely through the earth. It is as vital to their lives as the air they breathe and is freely given by Mother Earth. Majic flows through all who bear a crest, but for those fortunate few blessed with a high crest, majic can be summoned, shaped and wielded. The grander the crest, the deeper and more powerful, the colour of majic that can be drawn. This rainbow of colours is put to many uses, but powerful as the colours are, they are naught compared to the power of the black and the white.
Throughout history the summoning of white has been the preserve of the Troll, the pure core majic fuelling their powerful charms. Black is never summoned; such majic seeks out its own vessels and bonds to them for life. Amongst the crested folk such a talent is rarer than rare, so much so that with the passing of the centuries, wielders of black have become mere myths and legends. Yet it is true.
In the hands of the chosen, black majic is timeless, it is yesterday and tomorrow, it is life and death. Cloak's world is about to be turned upside down, but who will ultimately succeed in shaping the boy's fate?

TIDE: Black and White Majic
Cloak's adventure continues, but as the truth slowly surfaces the lies only get deeper. He has chosen his cresting name and like his birthing name, it is a name with meaning: relentless, ever present and ever changing, a name associated directly with the Goddess Mother of the Moon... he is Cloak Tide, the lost son of the crested folk, a prince and heir to the throne.
Having spent sixty years of his life frozen in time as a babe, Cloak is now sixteen. He has fled his home, escaped capture and now travels across the wilds with Needle Cliff, the king's wish walker. Although his crest remains only part-formed he has already demonstrated the power of his wish majic, slaying the warrior captain Goose Beam with a single stroke of his guardian father's sword. For now, Cloak remains a fleeting figure in the mists of time, his location and impact on the world evading the tellers and the seers... but will this last?
Since his cresting, his life has been turned upside down. Now, his already twisted path is about to grow even more crooked as he and Master Cliff, make the long journey to the dead city of Thankless Bastion, a city where both master and prentice hope the white majic that flows through the ancient underground temple will come to their aid... but all does not go to plan.

SHADE: Rent, Raze and Render
What has happened to Cloak Tide, first son of Prince Torrent and elder brother to Prince Sharp Thunder Moon, and what will King Soar Hot Hawk and his two moonhead acolytes do with their dark majic powers?
In the land of the Troll, the coming of Troll Doom still weighs heavily on Shiver Cauldron's mind and in the south; the death of their emperor has not slowed the wheels of war. The threats from the north and the south do not worry the old king, but the loyalty of his folk and, their faith in the tenants of the god's book cause him great angst. Why? Because the Book of God and King condemns all who wield black, yet without its power the king knows he will not triumph. Soar seeks to unite the known world under his flag, but to do so he must cull the Troll and occupy what remains of the Southlands.... but is he willing to rewrite Holy Scripture and the laws of the land, in order to achieve his goal?
Heroes do not perish easily and in times of need the gods ensure their will is done, or so it is believed. Does the king fear the gifted boy prince? No, he does not, but only because he is blind to his unique powers. Cloak is not a warrior, he is not a mage, he cannot change the past, nor does he have sight of things to come... no, all Cloak can do is wish.
