Gilbert Aderhold was a doctor who began practicing medicine in Hawthorn village. Joan Heron was a single woman living alone in the same village. There were many different signs the country folk look for to identify those in league with the devil. Joan and Gilbert embark on a long and eventful journey as they try to escape a false accusation of witchcraft.
