Overview

Where do ghosts go when they retire?

Picture a quiet Elizabethan House with a Georgian façade in the country? A well-kept home where the dead no longer have to haunt graveyards, crumbling ruins, desolate highways, and other lonely places. Where death does not mean spending eternity in cold dank cellars, empty moors and reeking bogs.

Imagine instead, a cosy armchair, a warm fire, and a glass of fine port. Better still, imagine a glass filled with home-brewed Irish whisky.

Here you will find tales filled with humour and pathos; A Shipwrecked Sea Captain, a Hanged Highwayman, a Poisoned Cook, a Drowned House Maid, a Poltergeist Florist, a Love-Struck Doctor, a Second-Rate Actor, a Penitent Land Agent, and a Demonic Scotsman. Not forgetting accounts of Travelling People, Incompetent Thieves, and an outing to an Old Castle.

And who has the task of looking after these deceased waifs and strays? Why, none other than The Wonderful Mrs Bains.

About the Author

Robin was born in a hole in a tree and was brought up by a wicked witch. But, she loved him so she was only wicked to other people.

As he grew, the tree became too small so they carved out an internal staircase and moved up through the branches to where they had a better view. His mum scrounged a few bits of wood and some nails and they soon had a penthouse of their very own.

Then one day, she said he had to get a job. He tried mushroom picking, a manicurist for frogs, and even a lead singer in a girl band. In the end he picked up his old guitar and became a song writer, telling stories in song behind dustbins and derelict buildings before turning his hand to becoming a writer of the spoken word.

And there you have it. Robin’s life story in a nutshell
