About the Author

L. Frank Baum was an American author best known for his beloved children's book, "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz". Born on May 15, 1856, in Chittenango, New York, Baum had a colorful and diverse career before he began writing children's books.

After a brief stint as a journalist, Baum worked as a salesman, actor, and theater manager. He eventually moved to South Dakota, where he opened a general store and began writing stories for children. Baum's first book, "Mother Goose in Prose", was published in 1897, but it was his second book, "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz", published in 1900, that truly launched his career.

Baum went on to write 13 more Oz books, as well as numerous other children's books, plays, and musicals. Despite his success as a writer, Baum experienced numerous financial difficulties throughout his life and was forced to declare bankruptcy several times.

Baum was known for his vivid imagination and his ability to create fantastical worlds that captivated readers of all ages. His work has been praised for its imaginative storytelling, colorful characters, and universal themes of friendship, courage, and the power of imagination.
