Overview

PARADISE LOST is a classic epic poem composed by 17th-century English poet John Milton. Considered one of the most important epics in the English language, PARADISE LOST tells the story of the rebellion and defeat of Satan against God, and his subsequent role in tempting Adam and Eve.

This ebook also contains Milton's PARADISE REGAINED, which shares similar theological themes to PARADISE LOST. Based in the New Testament, REGAINED tells the story of the temptation of Christ by Satan in the wilderness.

About the Author

About The Author
John Milton (1608-1674) was an influential English poet, scholar, and government official. Well educated and from a relatively prosperous background, Milton wrote in English, Latin, and Italian. He also served under Oliver Cromwell, a choice which nearly cost him his life after the collapse of the English Republic. After a brief arrest, Milton was pardoned and continued writing, publishing PARADISE LOST in 1667.
