Like most 14 year olds, Miles often finds that his worst enemy exists in his own mind. His fears and worries - about school, friends and even skateboarding - can become overwhelming, taking some joy out of his life. His normally goofy dad takes it to the extreme by dressing up like a Monk and bringing Miles to a skateboard park to learn how to be a "Zen Skateboarder." There, they run into Jaccob, a "mini" who Miles can't stand. Jacob dresses like a poser, and acts like he's too cool for the other skaters. And, Jacob also happens to be a great skateboarder. Despite his best effort to avoid Jacob, Miles finds himself facing off with him in a game of S-K-A-T-E. In order to prevent an embarrassing loss, Miles must confront his own demons, and with guidance from his quirky dad, use "Zen Skateboarding" to bring out his best. Along the way, Miles learns how the ways of the Zen Skateboarder can help bring him peace of mind in all areas of his life.
