About the Author

Sara Kendall was born in East Texas in 1964 and has spent most of her life in Texas. Being a middle child of seven, she entertained herself in books where her passion for writing began. As an adult she has a special place in her heart for children and had taught ages 4-12 in different churches. She also was a church secretary in Alpine, Texas. In 1992 she met Jason Burkhardt, her co-author for The BackYard Trio series, at the Christian shelter in Van Horn, Texas where he was the administrator, and she was a volunteer. Together they volunteered at different missions in different towns, as well as taught children and adults in a church in Hickory, North Carolina. In 2002 Sara and Jason gave life to The BackYard Trio after watching their own pets' behavior. Combining the characters and situations in the Bible along with the lovable animals in the books gives the children an enjoyable journey through the Bible.

Jason Burkhardt was born in Milton, Kentucky, in early 1953. After moving to Florida and graduating from Florida Air Academy in 1971, he started a career in the Construction Industry. In 1986 Jason began an active stint in Ministry with the Christian Homes at El Paso where he eventually taught the Word, preached the Gospel of Peace, baptized folks in the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ and directed the 3rd Step Feeding Center (which fed 100,000 folks a year). In 1990 he became Administrator of the Van Horn Texas Community Christian Shelter where he met Sara, his Co-Author of The BackYard Trio series of books, two years later. They started off their lives together in North Carolina where they were used by God in different ministries and churches, along with their own construction company. In 2000 their stopping ground was Fort Worth, Texas where The BackYard Trio began in 2002.
