What is time?
God is time. In this capacity, He has established Himself as the contract covering in a specialized relationship, or engagement, with the Earth and its inhabitants. As God is an infinite being, describing Him as time might appear contradictory. Time does not stretch into eternity; its scope is relatively limited. It is for here and now. Though the concept of time has no application beyond this earthly realm, its essence forms the basis for understanding the grand stage we occupy. It is the construct under which one can render a stellar performance of righteousness, especially before God and the angels. As God is alive, time is the invisible measure of earthly existence. It adds companionship and guidance to humanity; a clock or a watch does not possess such virtues. Neither the precision of a watch nor its reassuring and dependable ticks can fully convey the significance and divinity of time.
No different from the obelisk of the ancient Egyptian, a timepiece is the primary tool used to recognize and appreciate the presence and departure of time. Time is an unassuming guardian and navigator of this terrestrial landscape. It reminds each soul of the immovable limit to discover our purpose, sensibility, reason, direction, and our world—though only in moderate increments. Humans cannot realize the full landscape of time, or a lifetime, all at once. We can only process divinely appointed chunks or segments. It is wise to recognize that time, as we perceive it, does not restrict God. He sees all events of life and time in the eternal now.
Time is the host of a world-class performance of decision-making by each soul. One must effectively realize that time is also an expressed event with two firm boundaries; beginning and end. God is the beginning and the ending of all things. However, the hope, exuberance, and apparently perpetual essence of time can cause the unguarded and careless to abuse this blessing with mindless strokes of procrastination and inattentiveness.
To recap, time is the expressed desire of God to fashion humans for entrance to Heaven during a contractual period. When time ends, either for a single soul or the world at large, the contract annuls. What follows is eternity in full measure. It is for this reason that repentance in Hell is meaningless. Why? At the time of death, the agreement becomes baseless because time has completed its event-based mission in an individual's life.
A soul can only repent within the scope of time, not outside of it.
