Overview

Melbourne high school student Tom finds himself thrown into a world of adventure and intrigue as he escapes to the Snowy Mountains with illegal Irish immigrant, Sean. The pair settle on a friend’s farm at Dalgety near the Snowy River and begin a journey of recovery from their pasts. Tom meets Cassandra who is passionate about the health of the Snowy River and the mountains. Together they break in the wild brumby Brindabella and Tom rides his horse to fame at the local bush races. When Cassandra becomes the target of a deeper plot to privatise Australia’s water, Tom springs into action to find the assassin. The main characters bond through their shared passion for the mountains and loyalty to one another.

About the Author

Acacia Rose is a long time campaigner for the health of the Snowy River. She began writing Threatened River to explore the beautiful light and landscapes within the Snowy Mountains and Monaro region of NSW. Her characters draw strength from the mountains, the wild horses and one another. Ultimately, this is a story about the fight for the freedom of the threatened Snowy River.
Meredith Goulding comes to Editing from an academic background in Literary Criticism. Each of her three degrees in this field were, in accordance with the high standard of the English Department at The University of Sydney, thoroughly taught and rigorously examined. These fifteen years of training culminated in a Ph.D in 1981, following a 1st Class Honours M.A in 1975. A career in teaching, at several levels and to diverse groups of students, put these critical skills into practice, shaping, structuring and stringently editing a wide range of written compositions from short poems to extended theses - so both creative and analytical works. Further, in terms of scope, Editing entails both micro and macro attention to the script. Many years of experience develop the necessary skills in this field.
Jeremy Smart has had experience working throughout Asia-Pacific in print and digital publishing, content production, brand strategy and creative direction, he is also a freelance photojournalist, with editorial clients including The Guardian, Al Jazeera, SBS and Radio New Zealand. Jeremy is art director of the Asia-focused creative quarterly Design Anthology, and has designed countless books, magazines and digital editorial platforms. Jeremy is also the founder of Aerostorie, a globally-targeted media brand celebrating life beyond borders.
