About the Author

Mara Louise Pratt-Chadwick was born in New England, probably in the late 1860s. In 1889, she earned a medical degree from Boston University. Around 1900, Pratt married Charles Bennett Chadwick. She went on to author and re-write many books intended to help schools children learn to read.
