Overview

In 1889, people are dying in Three Rivers, Virginia in gruesome ways, and lazy but erudite Sheriff, Maxwell Blount, will have to solve the cases, including one behind the walls of his very own jail where a man has been flayed alive while the sheriff and his deputy slept only twenty feet away.

Sheriff Blount, aided by his dime-novel-loving deputy, will have to uncover long-buried town secrets hidden by both a controversial school and a powerful local family if he hopes to solve the mystery and live to tell about it.

About the Author

Martha Whitehouse lives in the heart of the West in North Fort Worth, Texas. Regaled by her father’s rich stories of his time working on his mother’s farm in 1920’s Fort Worth where he drove cattle to the city’s historic cattle yard, mended fences, and farmed on his mother’s land, Martha developed a love of all things western. Her search into her father’s experiences in Forth Worth and her mother’s colorful family history in old Virginia inspired her to write a mystery novel set in that state’s past. During a career spent as a development executive for a Fortune Five technology company, Martha spent her spare time writing. Vance Bibliography published three bibliographies by Martha including: The Youth Labor Experience: Expectations, training, and employment prospects, Microelectronic Technology and Automation: Employment and training issues, and Total Quality Management in American Public and Private Institutions.
Three Rivers is her first fiction book.
