G.R.S. Mead was a noted and influential member of the Theosophical Society. He studied the Hermetic and Gnostic religions of Late Antiquity. Mead's huge book-Thrice-Greatest Hermes- is a classic work on the philosophical Hermetica and the figure of Hermes Trismegistus. This third volume (Excerpts and Fragments-400 pp.) gives the excerpts and fragments that make up the rest of the Hermetica, namely from Stobaeus, but also from the Fathers (Clement of Alexandria, Tertullian, Augustine, etc.) and the philosophers of antiquity (Zosimus, Jamblichus, Fulgentius, etc.), with commentary following each section.
