Tibet as it Was - A 1940's Photo Journey
This book is a large format (8.5 x 11) photo journey that includes photographs that were taken in the 1940's and earlier. It is a photographic excursion into one of the most beautiful places on planet earth. A country that was often referred to as "Shangri-La", because of its untouched natural beauty.
There are no political implications of any kind in this tome. This is an illustrated book that contains pictures of Tibet in the 1940's or earlier. Like so many beautiful places in the world, unfortunately, time has taken a toll and Tibet now has nuclear waste sites and other issues that scar the landscape.
The first section contains pictures of the Potala Palace that were taken in 1940s and earlier. The Potala Palace is now considered to be one of the seven wonders of the world!
In the second section, we have gained approval to illustrate over 60 of the photographs taken by A.T. Steele, a foreign war correspondent who gained a rare privilege to openly view and photograph much of Tibet in in 1939 and in 1944.
In the third section, we have taken the liberty of showing pictures of the Dalai Lama from his earliest years to present. These pictures include his meetings with dignitaries and spiritual and religious leaders from around the world.
In Section 4 - the Dalai Lama has spread love and kindness, regardless of what religions, ideologies, or politics have been present. This section contains pictures of the Dalai Lama meeting with important dignitaries and famous people from around the world.
