About the Author

Dr. DeQuan M. Smith received a Bachelor of Science degree in Hospitality Management and a Master of Science degree in Sport Management from Virginia State University. In addition, he received a doctorate from Capella University in Educational Leadership and Management where his dissertation capstone focused on creating a hospitality boot camp known as “The Hospitality Pineapple Boot Camp”, designed to expose high school students to the hospitality industry education and professional development for early career decisions.

After over ten years of experience in hotel operations, asset management, development, feasibility research and marketing, Davonne Reaves created The Vonne Group in 2017. The Vonne Group which is a hospitality consulting firm specializing in travel market research, asset and operational management, and brand development for boutique hotels. The Vonne Group’s specialty is creating proven strategies to assist hotel owners in making sound financial and innovative decisions that match their goals and identify creative approaches to develop unique concepts. Prior to The Vonne Group, Reaves worked with Hyatt Regency Atlanta, Blair Management Consultants, Horwath HTL and CHMWarnick where she managed portfolios totaling over $1 billion in assets.
