About the Author

Claire Cook wrote her first novel in her minivan when she was forty-five. At fifty, she walked the red carpet at the Hollywood premiere of the adaptation of her second novel, Must Love Dogs, starring Diane Lane and John Cusack. She is the bestselling author of eight other novels and divides her time between the suburbs of Atlanta and Boston.

Lesa Lockford is an Associate Professor in the Department of Theatre and Film at Bowling Green State University. She teaches courses in voice for the actor, dialects, acting, and performance studies. She is also a writer and performer. Before becoming a teacher, she was a professional actor in Great Britain where she appeared in a variety of roles in television, film, and on the stage. She trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London.

When her best friend, B.J., signs her up to attend their high school reunion, Melanie is forced to pull herself together and replace her preoccupation with her husband, and that fact that he has left her, with fantasies about her ex-boyfriend. Narrator Lesa Lockford effectively portrays Melanie’s initial self-doubt as well as her growing confidence as the story develops, especially her determination to overcome her fear of driving. Though Lockford’s narration conveys the humorous and touching aspects of the story, her portrayals of the secondary characters are somewhat lackluster, and the transitions between them, slightly blurred.
