Overview

The author, while on a train trip through the United States and Canada, describes and comments on the places he sees and the people he meets. His reflections --sometimes critical, sometimes comical -- are eye opening and wide in scope. Wallace takes swipes at thoughtless people, animal cruelty, and foolishness disguised as zealotry. The reader will enjoy the personal predicaments he and his wife confront, his comments on terrorism and the pomposity of political hacks. There are times he conveys warmth and unblushing tenderness, placing suspicion on his otherwise crusty reputation.

About the Author

Born and raised in California, Schuyler T. Wallace is a retired fire chief who reads and writes a lot. He's in his seventies but thinks it's none of your business how close he is to eighty. He's also convinced he knows a little bit about everything and hopes you will agree after reading this book. But, at the end of the day, the love of his family is the most important to him.
