Description: This is an update of a book detailing how radiologic technologists can properly and safely interact with patients in the radiology department. The book provides the information in a logical progression to facilitate learning while highlighting key points in "call out" and "warning" sections.
Purpose: The main purpose is to educate radiologic technology students on how to care for patients in the radiology department. The authors accurately and successfully present information on basic to emergent care of patients.
Audience: Students currently in the process of becoming registered radiologic technologists are the intended audience. The authors are current directors or professors in accredited radiology programs and understand the material that is required by registry groups.
Features: This book covers the basic information necessary for registered radiologic technologists to provide care to all types of patients as well as methods to care for patients in emergent situations. The "call out" and "warning" sections do a great job of highlighting key points in each chapter. Although the book clearly describes the basics of the radiology department, the images it uses demonstrate old and outdated equipment.
Assessment: Overall, this is a very useful book for providing radiology students the necessary information on their way to become registered radiologic technologists.
