About the Author

Mabel Crittenden discovered her passion for trees and flowers early. Her mother was an amateur botanist and her father was a geologist. She majored in biology at college and did graduate studies in botany at Stanford University. Pursuing this interest, she taught high school biology, then zoology and nature studies at San Jose State University.
