About the Author

Elizabeth (Libby) Hurley is the founder and president of Together We Tri (TWT) a Chicago-area triathlon training program. Libby is a three-time Ironman finisher and veteran of more than 50 races. Fueled by her background as a competitive age group swimmer with Olympic aspirations, Libby longed to compete in triathlons. Lack of information on the emerging sport led Libby to devise a training program for herself—a program she would later use to inspire her entrepreneurial quest. Tri the Journey is the culmination of Libby’s desire to help people everywhere experience the joy of triathlons. The book and website are the realization of Libby’s dream to encourage thousands more to experience a fitness program that will transform lives. Since 2000, Together We Tri and has trained and motivated more than 6,000 athletes to reach their triathlon goals. Prior to founding Together We Tri, Libby worked as a physician’s assistant, specializing in neurosurgery and neuroresearch. She is a graduate of the University of Kentucky and currently resides in Glenview, Illinois with her husband and three children. Elizabeth (Betsy) Noxon is a freelance health and fitness writer whose work has appeared in numerous national magazines, including AARP The Magazine, Better Homes & Gardens, Experience Life, Health, Heart-Healthy Living, Parents, Runner’s World, and United Airline’s Hemispheres. She has also reported on health conferences for Glamour magazine, written online for MSN.com Health & Fitness, Livestrong.com, for The Chicago Tribune, The L.A. Times, North Shore magazine and for corporate clients. An athlete all her life, Betsy is always on the go, be it running, swimming, cycling, skiing or golfing. A cycling trip down California’s Highway One inspired her to take up triathlons. Training with Together We Tri since 2008, Betsy has competed in eight triathlons, including the 2010 USA Triathlon National Age Group Championships (a qualifying event). She was also named an Illinois State Champion in 2010. Prior to her freelance writing career, Betsy worked in health care for a cardiovascular prevention program and as a practice manager for a large hospital system in Cleveland, Ohio. Betsy is a member of the American Society of Journalists and Authors, Inc. She continues to her personal training, is a coach for Girls on the Run, and plans to continue competing as a triathlete. She resides in Glenview, Illinois with her husband and two children.
