Henry Rene Albert Guy de Maupassant was born August 5, 1850 at Chateau Miromesnil Tourville sur Arques and died July 6, 1893 in Paris. Recognized for his stories (over 300), Maupassant also wrote six novels; Une Vie, Bel-Ami and Pierre and Jean are the best known. His literary career was limited to the decade 1880-1890.
