About the Author

Robin Karr-Morse is a family therapist in private practice for forty years. She has written and directed three statewide programs in Oregon, targeting prevention of the effects of developmental trauma. She was the consultant to Oregon’s largest interim legislative committee on preventing trauma to children and has authored three books on the roots of health and the roots of violence, including two editions of Ghosts from the Nursery and Scared Sick, which have taken her across the world as a lecturer. She lives with her husband and has four children and four grandchildren. This she considers her most important job.


Meredith Wiley is the former director of Fight Crime: Invest In Kids New York, part of a national bi-partisan, non-profit anti-crime organization made up of police chiefs, sheriffs, prosecutors, victims of violence and crime prevention experts. She is a graduate (Cum Laude) of Willamette College of Law and has a master’s degree in Public Administration from Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government. She co-authored Ghosts from the Nursery: Tracing the Roots of Violence, and Scared Sick: The Role of Childhood Trauma in Adult Disease with Robin Karr Morse. Currently living in Fresno, Meredith is the editor of Our Children This Week, a weekly policy e-digest produced by The Children’s Movement Fresno.


Ronald David is a physician, public health administrator, priest and chaplain. The thematic thread that runs through all of his vocational endeavors is a deeply held conviction that relationships are primary. All else is derivative. Ronald is now retired and resides in Belmont, North Carolina with his wife Debbi and their Chocolate Labrador Retriever, Kabutu.
