“Mary will never be a mathematician,” were Mary Cantell’s third-grade teacher’s words to her parents at the P.T.A. meeting upon meeting Mrs. Langen. Taking this as a cue, the eight-year-old wannabe writer adopted the self-fulfilling prophecy and began pursuing her natural love of language. Graduating with a B.A. in English Writing, she later became an on-air radio/TV broadcaster and sidelined as a newspaper columnist. Her day job found her reporting Philadelphia traffic conditions as well as hard news, weather, and sports inside of an 8x8 foot booth. It was not so glamorous—at least, not from her vantage point. When she was laid off after sixteen years in the news biz and lost her newspaper column as well all in the same week, it was an obvious blessing from God to now have the time to write full time. Untying the Shadows is her second novel. Visit her at: www.marycantell.com.
