About the Author

Professor Kate Moore is a urogynecologist and Director of the Pelvic Floor Unit at St George Hospital, University of New South Wales, a regional referral unit which serves all of NSW and ACT, conducting over 10,000 occasions of service annually. Professor Moore also runs the urogynecology clinics / surgical services at the Royal Hospital for Women and Sutherland Hospital in central and southern Sydney.
It is the largest urogynecology service in the southern hemisphere, and the only one in Australia which provides care under one roof for colorectal patients with faecal incontinence/ post partum anal sphincter injuries, as well as urology patients with incontinence. 
Her main research interests include the aetiology of detrusor overactivity (detrusor muscle contractility), and the economic implications of incontinence. Definition of objective outcome measures, including the costs of treatment are also important research interests. She has authored over 100 peer-reviewed publications / book chapters.

Description: This is the third edition of this pocket-sized reference designed for primarily urogynecology trainees and those with no formal urogynecology training looking for a concise but comprehensive urogynecology text. The second edition was published in 2013, and this update serves to further accomplish the author's objectives.
Purpose: The author successfully updates this reference by including topics of colpocleisis, management of mesh complications, and mechanism of beta-3 agonists. This book continues to be an excellent pocket-sized reference due to its small size, well-organized and to-the-point topics, and clear diagrams/tables/illustrations. The author's objective for this book to be a reference for trainees and those without formal urogynecology training is very much needed, and she has done a fantastic job at meeting this objective.
Audience: This book is for trainees of all levels (medical students, residents, fellows) who have not completed a formal urogynecology training program. The author is an expert in this field, and the book meets the needs of its intended audience.
Features: This book gives a broad overview of urogynecology from assessing a patient, overviews of common pelvic floor dysfunction disease states, and management and outcome measurement of these disorders. This book serves as a "how-to" guide to give readers an overview of managing these patients in a well-organized, evidence-based approach using clear diagrams, photographs, and tables, which provide immense value to the readers.
Assessment: This book continues to be a relevant text in the field of urogynecology designed for trainees and those without formal urogynecology training. It fills the unique niche in the literature given that it is a pocket-sized reference, and the updates included in this edition were necessary given the rapidly changing nature of this field.
