About the Author

Explained by Master Hsuan Hua (1918 - 1995) Chinese monk, founder of City of Ten Thousand Buddhas in California and over 20 other monasteries and temples all over the globe. He received the mind-to-mind transmission of the Patriarchs from Master Xu Yun at Nan Hua Monastery, the bodhimanda of the Sixth Patriarch Hui Neng in Canton, China.

English translation by Bikshuni Heng Chih, a western born Buddhist nun ordained in the Chinese Mahayana tradition under the guidance of the late Master Hsuan Hua. She is currently a Lecturer in Buddhist philosophy at Bond University in Gold Coast, Australia. She holds MA and PhD degrees in Translation of Buddhist Texts from the Dharma Realm Buddhist University.
