About the Author

Stephanie Hunt is a writer in Charleston, South Carolina, and regular contributor to Veranda. A native Southerner, she writes about style and design and community and culture for a number of publications, including Coastal Living, Southern Living, LUXE, The Washington Post, and Charleston Magazine.

Steele Thomas Marcoux is the editor of Veranda and a veteran of the design publishing industry, having served in senior editorial roles at County Living, Coastal Living, and Southern Living. She serves on the board of directors for the Alabama School of Fine Arts in Birmingham, where she lives with her husband, two sons, and dog.

Southern style is more than just quilts and magnolias, she writes; it can range from the traditional to the modern and edgy, and Hunt posits that the region’s defining factor is “an abiding love of beauty.” The author then takes readers on a sumptuously photographed tour of contemporary homes, organized into six thematic sections.
