Overview

At the turn of the 20th century the Russian Empire was trembling on a shaky foundarion of monarchist rule and a weak monarch. By 1917 it collapsed under the weighr of the Communist imperative. Aleksandr, the oldest of Chaim and Alta's children, graduates from medical college and decides to abandon his traditionaol Jewish heritage to join the Bolsheviks. His family leaves Russia and joins the wave of massive immigration to America, trading their comfortable life to an American ghetrto for the promise of freedom. The effect of this brought the good with the bad and the ultimate destruction of the family as each child grows and leaves home to make their own life story.
