There are many guide books on the Lake District Fells but no one has attempted to do one set to poetry and this being the spiritual home of many an English poet as well! So John Phoenix Hutchinson set out to write 214 mountain poems that are associated with the famous Arthur Wainwright's very popular list of fells. Yes 214 poems! Including all the grand favorites of Skiddaw, Helvellyn, Great Gable, Bowfell, the Langdale Pikes and of course England's highest mountain Scafell Pike. Some of these poems relate to a popular route or are more romantic or spiritual in nature whilst others tell of the character at the mountains heart. Each poem shows a brief introduction to the fell, its region, its height and the all important grid reference. All adding up to a fun unique introduction to what is one of the most beautiful places on earth the English Lake District.
