Cosmo is a good character, you will love his friend Aggie. She grew up in the village, schooled with young Cosmo and was his family friend since childhood. She was hard working, gentle, wise and continually self sacrificing. The ending will be a surprise. You will not have predicted it. After reading the old language, you will actually want to read more of this.
MacDonald novels are so refreshing. There is a homely kindness and shrewdness about people in his writing. You will soon marvel at your bookshelf full of MacDonald!!
