About the Author

D.J. Dammeyer is a school psychologist in Northern California. He is a fantasy enthusiast, and was urged one day to combine his passion and his profession. Counseling students quickly showed an increased need to teach young kids basic strategies to work with feelings of anxiety, but he struggled to find engaging children’s books to help teach the skills... so he wrote one himself.

Mikayla Beasley is currently a college student, attending a local community college near Brentwood, California. She was approached with this project while a senior in high school, as a member of the Public Art and Design Academy (PADA). As a person who’d struggled with anxiety, she had a vested interest in being part of illustrating a story that will help teach kids how to cope.
