About the Author

Born and raised just outside San Francisco, Maryam moved to Los Angeles to pursue teaching, performing and competing in Salsa and Belly Dance over ten years ago. She has performed with Enrique Iglesias, Tito Puente been on the Oprah Winfrey Show, Day’s of our Lives and Fame LA to name a few. You may have also seen her self produced instructional dance video Salsa Fusion. Now, Maryam can add author to her credit. Her first self published children’s book, What about Daisy? A story of a deafblind rescue dog searching for her forever home has become Maryam’s newest and most important creative passion next to caring for Daisy and her four furry siblings.

Maryam and her husband Bruce are no strangers to loving and caring for animals, having both grown up surrounded by pets and volunteered for years at local animal shelters; animals have always had a place in their lives. Their first experience with special needs animals was with Louie, their three legged cat. Daisy born deafblind, was soon to follow.

Daisy’s strength and courage inspired What about Daisy? and was released October 5, 2010. Maryam and Daisy’s journey to share their story has already touched over 1,500 children and adults. They will be donating a portion of proceeds from book sales to charities for both special needs children and animals.
