Overview

What Built Me was created to share my struggles. After a major unexpected situation, I began writing this book. I came home from work crying one night because I was completely overwhelmed and couldn't keep it together. With two jobs in high school and college classes at Queens College, I was overthinking and overworking myself. That season taught me that true believers would support me even if others questioned my abilities. I would have mental breakdowns about my past and current situation on many nights. To be free of all the pain, grudges, and hurt, I had to learn to forgive. Many people forget about me, dismiss me, and tell me that they loved me yet were never there for me. I was bawling my eyes out early in the morning, pleading to God via tears since tears are a language only God understands. My journey and my resilience helped to shape me. Life is an adventure, and I'm just a passenger on the ride.

About the Author

In Jamaica, Corryann Williams was born and nurtured. She made it through the sixth grade and passed for The Queens School in Kingston, Jamaica, with the grace of God. Later, she moved to the US in search of better living conditions and family reunification. She had a positive outlook on everything she accomplished despite the difficulties she faced in transitioning to live in a foreign nation, a new environment, school, neighborhood, and house. She graduated that year among the top 10 honor students, which was a significant accomplishment for her. She takes pleasure in educating her siblings, assisting young children in returning to school, volunteering in the church ministry, and helping with outreach initiatives. With the assistance of God, her encouraging family, friends, and mentors, Corryann Williams intended to become an interventional cardiologist.
