Overview

When We Wash Away paints the story of youth and family from the author's earliest memories up until the present through poetry. Each section has a different theme to represent how our mental state morphs and grows from all of the experiences that shape us throughout life when we embrace what it means to change. The reminiscent nature of the pieces was made this way so readers could think back to when they were young and reconnect with the youthful selves we all too easily lose as time passes.

About the Author

Alyson Van Dusen was born and grew up in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania her entire life. Middle school was when she first became interested in writing and decided to audition for an arts high school for their literary arts program. After being accepted, she spent her four years there discovering her writer's voice and honing her style. When We Wash Away is the culmination of the poetry created during her senior year. She has a passion for writing poetry books that reach teens and adults as well as creating children's books for publication down the road.
