Overview

Dreams and fate are enemies. One fills you with hope. The other steals your future.

No one knows that better than Jimmy Rakes. He has visions of independence and runs away from home at age four. He might not make it past the neighboring farm, but if he can escape his mean grandfather for even a few hours, it's worth it.

Growing up in a small rural community isn't all bad, though, even when the world is living by a different set of rules. He just doesn't understand why adults can break them when it suits them but he can't. Their actions send a ripple effect throughout Benton County, Arkansas, with the craziest happenings one can imagine. Some entertaining. Some tragic. But never a dull moment.

Living on a farm when families are rebuilding their lives after The Great Depression is hard. But what Jimmy doesn't grasp yet is that his tough experiences are building character, courage, and confidence—the three Cs he will need one day when fate hurls him into a life-threatening event.

If you enjoy true stories that make you gasp, laugh, cry, and cheer, then buy Whispers of Tomorrow today. Meet larger-than-life characters and follow Jim's unbelievable journey

About the Author

Linda Kasten loves writing thrillers, romance suspense, and dabbles a bit in historical fiction. She makes it easy for her protagonists to take on the world without fear or regret, fall in love, and face life struggles. Living by proxy through extraordinary drama, she brings her characters to life while hunkering down in coffee shops, libraries, or any place with WiFi. A transplant from Kansas to Texas, she lives with her husband in a downsized house and enjoys playing with her grandchildren. Therapy consists of needlework and quilting while "watching" crime and medical shows. She'll never go back to cold Kansas...oops, never say never; but you can find out more about her and her books at lindakasten.com.

Jim Rakes wanted to share a bit of history from firsthand experience. His life was full of wonderful people and stories, ones that should be remembered. A remarkable gentleman, Jim lived a full life and never let the grass grow under his feet. A Korean War vet, he used his life experiences to survive a war and returned home to become a chemical engineer. His Korean War experience can be found in Heartbreak: A Korean War Story.
