JD Jackson narrates this essay collection about the social effects of the film BLACK PANTHER. The premise is that it is more than a comic- book movie—it is an inspirational work of art that will change the lives of those who see it. In order for this premise to work, the narrator has to sell it, and Jackson brings the gravitas that the audiobook needs. His powerful voice and resolute tone make these essays sound like they are being read by a college professor in a lecture hall. This production does miss out on the opportunity to bring in at least one female narrator, as many of the essays are written by women and discuss personal stories from the authors’ perspectives. Still, this is an excellent, thoughtful audiobook. A.R.F. © AudioFile 2021, Portland, Maine
