About the Author

James R. Gauthier, 75, is a United States Marine Corps combat veteran and Purple Heart recipient who
served two tours in the Vietnam War. He then spent the next 32 years as a Salem, Massachusetts police officer (both as a Patrol Officer, and the majority of career as Detective) until his official retirement in 2006. He was awarded the “Access of Justice Award” by the Massachusetts Office of Victim’s Assistance (MOVA) in 2010. Gauthier remains a forensics consultant for Salem PD to this day. Gauthier’s passion for reading history, and storytelling of the past served as the perfect combination for writing this book. He spends much of his free time today traveling with his wife Anne, exercising, spending time with his family, children, grandchildren, friends, forensics consulting, and playing the occasional round of golf.
