The visual imagery is breathtaking at times.
In some parts if the text the writing style makes me feel like something coherently inhuman is grabbing me and talking to me, it adds to the spookiness of the entire investigation, i love it. One very subtle foot in lovecraftian fantasy, the other in a sexy noir detective novel. Hats off

I'm still thinking about this world-building mystery of a book and its almost existential details of what it means to experience a horror beyond the imaginations scope. An educational conglomerate of material where one moment your learning an occult secret from the 14th century that you can actually understand, and the next moment your questioning the most trusted motives of some of the characters.

Evitee Nemo has combined her love of Alchemic and Lovecraftian fantasy/ horror with an imaginative mastery of its modern corollary, the breaking of the fourth wall detective story.
The main character 'Christa' is a bottomless antagonist as this disheveled and almost sickly detective and eccentrically perverted psychiatrist interrogates her about a crime that she may or may not had been apart of.

Babylon's Blog - Andrew Smith

It is the struggling underdog Evitee challenges the most. Without turning them to the role of a cliche antihero, she elevates them with strange and god-like responsibilities that even the common man wouldnt know to do with them.
I especially liked her visual descriptions of what were seemingly realistic atmospheres turned into fantastical, mythological landscapes by some trick of the hand writing style I'd like to hear more about.
