Overview

Words of You is a fictional telling of the life cycle of love as experienced by an overly-sensitive girl who lives between the tear-soaked pages of individuals she -- at some point -- loved. Told through a series of poems, Gutierrez-Sandoval recounts the nameless narrator's emotions and willingness to survive the trepidations that accompanied her after heartbreak.

About the Author

Born in Midland, Texas and raised in the Sun City, Mar Gutierrez-Sandoval earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Creative Writing and Minor in Film from The University of Texas at El Paso. After beginning her studies in journalism and working as a news content writer, Mar delved into restricted-for-space content creation; however, after moving back home and taking a Young Adult Literature course, she decided to step away from a newspaper byline and begin her journey in fictional long-form writing. Although many of her earlier pieces feature primarily prose, she experimented with verse during her last semester of undergrad in a poetry class that taught her it's not so intimidating after all and sensitivity paired with never-ending thoughts make for a good poem. Words of You is her first fictional published piece.
