About the Author

Shelby L. Stanton was a decorated Vietnam War veteran of the 82nd Airborne Division and the U.S. Army Special Forces, retiring as a captain. He was the author of more than a dozen military history books, including Vietnam Order of Battle, The Green Berets at War, Anatomy of a Division, and U.S. Army Uniforms of World War II.

Russell F. Weigley was Distinguished University Professor of History at Temple University and was for many years considered the dean of American military historians. He was the author of The American Way of War and Eisenhower’s Lieutenants, among other influential books.
