Optional Center Square Finish
This is a great block to add a personalized option to. You can add an appliqué to the middle square or stitch in a meaningful word, saying or message. In the example given for this block the words "let's eat" were free-motion machine-quilted on the center square of the pot holder. To add your personal message, after the block is pieced, simply use a water-soluble marking pen to write a word or message. Then, when quilting the block, slowly free-motion machine-quilt over the markings. Once the quilting and binding are complete, follow the manufacturer's instructions to remove the markings.
